September 3
- Third-year reviews requiring action by December 31, 2007
- The remainder of the file for promotion and tenure recommendations requiring action by December 31, 2007
- Review of faculty in their first year of appointment for those faculty hired in January
September 21
Requests for sabbaticals and other leaves with or without pay for the 2008-09 academic year. Individual faculty members should submit requests for leave to the department chair describing in detail what they intend to work on during the leave. If they are approved by the department, requests should be forwarded to the dean, with an explanation of how the staffing of courses will be affected by granting such leaves. Leaves for untenured faculty following a favorable third-year review should be requested at this time, with the understanding that granting such leaves would be contingent upon a favorable third-year review.
October 1
For promotions only, and for promotion and tenure recommendations requiring action by April 30, 2008, curriculum vitae, publications, and list of references are due.
October 15
All materials for third-year review are due. This substantive assessment of regular probationary faculty in their third year of appointment, or at the midpoint of their probationary period if the probationary period is abbreviated but at least five years long, should be done by all members of the department with tenure of the same rank or higher rank as the person being considered.
November 30
Remainder of the file is due for recommendations for promotions only and for promotions with tenure requiring action by April 30, 2008.
December 21
Last date for submission of request to the Promotion and Tenure Committee for a subsequent consideration of denial of third-year review and of tenure. Those denied promotion to full professor in the spring semester of 2007 should also submit requests for a subsequent consideration no later than this date. All requests for a subsequent consideration must be accompanied by new material or evidence that was not available for the initial review. Please note that the whole week of December 24-28 is a staff holiday. The university will be closed, so no requests or materials can be submitted that week.
