"4+1" MA Programs

Many of the departments and programs in the School of Liberal Arts offer a “4+1” program, which allows Tulane University undergraduates to earn a master’s degree in a fifth year of graduate study at a substantially reduced tuition rate. In “4+1” programs, some of the upper-level courses that students take to satisfy the major requirements as undergraduates are also counted toward the graduate degree. Students must be admitted to these programs; admission is based on their performance as undergraduates and recommendations from undergraduate professors.
